Aquanetta Betts, JD, CAP, AEP, CFRE
Director of Planned Giving, George Mason University
Before her planned giving roles within nonprofits, Betts worked for 11 years as an estate planning attorney, helping clients by drafting planned giving and estate agreements that reflected their charitable intent. She is a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Betts holds leadership positions with the National Bar Association’s Real Property, Trusts, and Estates Section, the Baltimore Estate Planning Council, and the National Capital Gift Planners Council. She is a past president of the Chesapeake Planned Giving Council and is currently on the board of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.
She is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®, Accredited Estate Planner®, and Certified Fund Raising Executive. She earned her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University and a B.A. in English from Florida International University. A former flight attendant with over 15 years at American Airlines, she remains passionate about travel.

John joined CFAAC in 2023 as Director of Gift Planning after working 25 years at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF). As CFAAC’s Director of Gift Planning, John facilitates Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT) philanthropic initiatives, cultivates and stewards relationships with current and prospective donors, as well as professional advisors, including members of the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council (AAEPC). He assists advisors with trusts, estate planning, and other deferred gifts to help their clients achieve a lasting philanthropic legacy in the community.
Marie Lilly
Director of Philanthropic Services, Baltimore Community Foundation
Marie Lilly is the Director of Philanthropic Services at the Baltimore Community Foundation. Marie works with donors and professional advisors to achieve their charitable goals through philanthropic advising and gift planning. Marie came to BCF with 19 years of fundraising and community engagement experience, most recently at UMBC where she held leadership positions in development, community and government relations, and communications. Marie has a master's in Women's Studies from Towson University and a Bachelors degrees in English and Religious Studies from McDaniel College.
