Identify the resources available to guide you through the obstacle course of IRA beneficiary payouts including the RIFT Database and the RIFT Advocates working group. Join the national effort for charities to create a united front to flight back against financial institutions holding charities hostage and have the tools to advocate for your own organization on both state level and national levels.

Karen Smedley

Karen is the former Assistant Director of Trust and Estate Administration for Duke University and Duke Health. She currently works as Principal Auditor in Duke's Office of Audit Risk & Compliance. She has extensive expertise in managing all classes of death claims including states, trusts, IRA beneficiary claims, and brokerage accounts. Karen is the founder and facilitator of RIFT Advocates and is on the board of The RIFT Project. She earned her Master of Studies in Law from Wake Forest University School of Law with an emphasis on business law and compliance and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington.
